This was one of the factor in the mind of better half. Agreed, public education standard in California has gone down and is going down, with no relief in sight. Private education is way expensive with no middle ground between public and private.
However, in my mind, quality of education in India is a TBD -- there are tons of schools, from international to campus schools but there is only so much they schools can/will do get the best teachers. Since there are so many schools, I am sure teachers have a good time moving from school to school without establishing permanent contacts with the kids at school.
I will expand further about our school experience so far in India in a post down the line ....
